2024 AUSTRALIAN DISTILLED SPIRIT AWARD WINNERS
SILVER MEDAL WINNER - 2024 AUSTRALIAN DISTILLED SPIRIT AWARDS - “ALTERNATIVE SPIRIT”
For thousands of years, plums have done it all: healed the weary, fed the hungry, and fermented into the finest of spirits. Every family's got their own recipe, tricks and secrets when it comes to making plum spirits. They're passed down through generations like prized heirlooms.
When it comes to turning them into alcohol, that’s a long process. Fermenting them? A science. Distilling? Well, that's practically alchemy.
Best enjoyed chilled, or in your fave fruity cocktail.
You might also know this delightful drink by another name — slivovitz.
Our Plum Rakia recently brought home a silver medal, and here’s what the judges had to say:
“Shy, spirituous nose. Sweet fruit palate balanced by some of the heat. Nice finish.”
“Palate is full and rounded with some really nice ripe plum notes following.”
“Subtle plumb with a good integration with alcohol. Medium sweetness. Long even finish.”
“Rose petal and floral nose, palate slightly tightening, some fruit toward finish.”
Legend says the first ever grappa was made by a Roman soldier using stolen equipment in 2nd century Italy; but our favourite tales of clandestine grappa making come from the Nonnis of Melbourne. Unable to buy it, they made it - turning their bathrooms and backyards into bootleg grappa labs; defying laws and liquor stores to keep their legacy alive.
Inspired by this rebellious spirit, we took a beloved Australian wine and distilled it into a drink our Nonnis would be proud to call grappa.
Made in the style of Italian Grappa.
BRONZE MEDAL WINNER - 2024 AUSTRALIAN DISTILLED SPIRIT AWARDS - “FRUIT INFUSED SPIRIT”
It seems like every second house in the inner west of Melbourne has a lemon tree in the backyard, many of them planted generations ago by European migrants bringing with them tastes of home.
For us this drink reminds us of all the backyard veggie gardens and the people tending them, handing down their homemade traditions.
Made like traditional limoncello, but with our own technique for distilling lemon juice, this is definitely a spirit and not a liqueur.
Infused with lemon peels (as Nonna instructed) this is a spirit that can brighten your day and your drink.
Pleasant citrusy nose, bold, with a great fresh and zesty lemon flavour.
Perfect in a spritz, a French martini or straight from the freezer neat.
Batch #14 Details: 500mL. 42% alcohol content. serves 16 standard drinks.

Rakia. Is it Gin? Vodka? Tequila? Moonshine??
It’s another clear spirit to add to your collection, different to all the rest.
If you know you know; but if it’s uncharted territory for your tastebuds, let our pear rakia be your guide — it’s easy to drink, crisp yet earthy, and subtly fruity with a soft finish. Enjoy it in a cocktail, on the rocks or neat.
For those in the know, this isn’t the typical fiery backyard brew you took for colds or courage. We matured and mellowed it, and we hope it surprises and delights you.
We recommend pairing this with Long Rays Pacific Tonic.
